Dr. Linda Alkire Awarded the 2018 Olney Early Career Research Award

Dr. Linda Alkire (neéNasr), an assistant professor in the Marketing Department at Texas State, has received the 2018 Robert J. Olney Early Career Research Award. The award, named after former Associate Dean of McCoy College Robert J. Olney, was first issued in 2015 and recognizes the early scholarly success of a faculty member in McCoy College. The award also requires the faculty member have been on a tenure-track position in McCoy College for a period of no less than two years, but no more than four, as well as having a promising research agenda.

Dr. Alkire’s research includes topics such as Transformative Service Research, Service Marketing and Management, and Technology and Service. Within the last year, her research has won several awards, such as the Robert Johnson Award and the Highly Commended Paper from the Journal of Services Marketing. Her work has been published in numerous journals as well,ranging from the Journal of Service Management and the Journal of Services Marketing to The Service Industries Journal and European Journal of Management.

Dr. Alkire earned her PhD from the Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester, UK. While in the UK, Dr. Alkire was awarded the highly competitive Manchester Business School Doctoral Studentship. She then went on to teach as an assistant professor at the University of Manchester, where she taught undergraduate and graduate levels courses such as Critical Marketing, Relationship Marketing and Customer Experience Management.Now at the McCoy College of Business, Dr. Alkire teaches courses in Services Marketing and Principles of Marketing.
